I am happy to announce AMC will have a one day showing of Common Ground, a film about regenerative farming on April 22, Earth Day. There are only two showings of this award winning documentary at 2pm and at 6:30pm. Buy your tickets now!

316 United’s upcoming Earth Day United event will feature speakers who are local advocates of sustainability, They are some of the most knowledgeable people in Wichita about environmental issues and they will have an answer to all your questions. Here is our schedule of speakers and their topics:

This is my last comment about our 316 United Facebook page disappearance - I promise. Our page had several links to the Kansas Reflector, including the one about climate change, that caused Facebook’s AI to block the Kansas Reflector as cyber security risk. Perhaps it was just a coincidence that our page, which addresses environmental change, disappeared or maybe not. I can’t help but wonder.

If you happened to have missed the brouhaha, here is the link to the Kansas Reflector article, “Facebook has nuked our page”. My recommendation is this: sign up for Kansas Reflector’s daily email.

"Let's Talk Trash" Southwind Group - Kansas Sierra Club

Friday April 12th 6:30 pm - First Unitarian Universalist Church, 7202 E 21st St North. Our guest will be the Environmental Resources Director for Sedgwick County, Susan Erlenwein. There is nothing she doesn't know about trash in our city and our county! Come at 6:30 pm with a dish to share for our potluck then plan to attend Susan's talk at 7:30 pm. Be sure to bring your own table setting so there is no waste

Wichita River clean-up event with the Wichita RiverWalk Cleanup Crew.

Saturday, April 13th at 514 N Dodge St. We are going to be getting into the trees next to McLean so be prepared for trees and sticks. There is a grey building just west of the Phillips 66 on the corner of McLean and Seneca with 514 written on the side. We plan to meet there. Anyone and everyone is invited to help out, but please leave pets behind (for safety reasons). Wear a pair of sturdy shoes that you are okay with getting dirty. Also, please wear clothing appropriate for picking up trash. Gloves and bags provided

POP-up Park Cleanup in Sedgwick County Park

Saturday April 13th, 2-4 pm This is a nonpartisan event to help cleanup this great west side park used by many! Trash pluggers and trash bags will be available. We encourage each person or group to fill one bag of trash from the drainage "creek" that gets all the fast food litter across from the park. Meet in the south parking lot of the Extension Center at 21st & Ridge. City Council Members Maggie Ballard (Dist 6) and JV Johnston (Dist 5) will participate also!

Saturday, April 13th 9am to 5pm Riverfront Stadium, 275 S. McLean Blvd. Shop small through the 225+ booths on the concourse surrounding the whole field. SCAVENGER HUNT:

Sunday April 14 Noon to 4pm Open Streets ICT - WSU & Shocker Neighborhood. This FREE neighborhood community-building event will take place along 17th Street, just south of Wichita State University and will host a day of physical activity, food trucks, music, and fun! Two miles of 17th Street will be closed to traffic from Oliver to Grove and open for biking, walking, running, food, and more! Cruise along the 2-mile stretch on 17th Street and stop at participating shops, businesses, and food vendors along the route.

Thursday, April 18th 9am -2pm Event by Sedgwick County Zoo, 5555 N Zoo Blvd. This environmental fair is designed for children in grades 3rd-5th and is a fantastic opportunity to teach them how to protect and care for the world we live in. With hands-on activities and interactive exhibits, kids will have a blast while learning important environmental concepts. This event is open to the public with their general admission to the Sedgwick County Zoo! Editor’s note: Be forewarned - this is a favorite field trip for many of our area schools. Be prepared for a busy day at the Zoo. Wear sunscreen!

Riverside Pollinator Event Sat. April 20, 10am-noon Event by Riverside Garden 802 Amidon

Kick off your Earth Day celebration at Riverside Garden. You'll find plants and seeds to take home that will provide habitat and nectar for our native pollinators. We'll be planting native pollinators at both the garden and the Kansas Wildlife Exhibit Saturday morning as part of the Bee City Wichita initiative. Thank you to Riverside Citizens Association and Friends of the Kansas Wildlife Exhibit for sponsoring this project.

Sat. April 27th 9am-Noon 151 N Waco, The Ark River Clean-Up is an event sponsored by Cargill, the Kansas Alliance for Wetlands & Streams, the City of Wichita, and numerous partners.
