Citizen Input needed for Wichita's EV Plan | ICT Local Events

Many are familiar with the saying: "If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb." Us Midwesterners are tired of lion wrangling and are ready for some spring lambs.

From "upslope" snowstorms in Colorado to tornados and gorilla hail in Kansas, wildfires raging in Oklahoma, red flag warnings in Nebraska and thunderstorms and flooding in Alabama, our weather patterns are not so predictable as our Old Farmer’s Almanac wisdom. Climate change is challenging our folklore traditions as well as our traveling plans. A weekend ski trip to Colorado is out of the question with four feet of snow in some places.

Meanwhile, in Wichita, our weather looks perfect for enjoying a parade, drinking green beer on a patio and planting potatoes.

One more update to the Solar Moratorium in Sedgwick County

The MAPC met at least nine times to hammer out their recommendations. Their presentation was thorough, answering all the questions raised from the town hall meeting, surveys, and emails. Delaying the vote seemed very dismissive of their hard work.

The Sedgwick County Commissioners extended the temporary ban on commercial solar farms. Instead of voting of the recommendations the Sedgwick County-Wichita Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, they instead voted to seek a professional consulting firm who will do more research.

If you didn’t have a chance to review their reports, check them out at this link.

WAMPO’S Electric Vehicle Network Plan

The Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO) has released its Electric Vehicle Network Plan for public comment. This plan will outline the first steps our region can take to encourage electric vehicle adoption.

There are two documents to review. First is the survey results. And second is the Electric Vehicle Network Plan.
